Over here, hi, it's me! I'm Sharon, owner and founder of Stitch monograms & embroidery. Urban legend has it that sewing, embroidery, and everything in-between is reserved as a hobby of choice for the geriatric crowd. Well, you've now met the exception. At the age of 7 my mom taught me to sew, passing on a craftsmanship that has been in my family for many generations. Ever since, I've been personalizing clothes and accessories as a late night creative outlet. Monogramming has been around since the Greco-Roman era, but I've always found myself wanting more modern and simplistic options for gifts and my own family. With limited embroidery options on my home sewing machine, I decided to take the plunge and get a top of the line embroidery machine. I've spent hours, lots and lots of hours, learning new techniques, testing fabrics, exploring new designs and basically putting monograms on everything but my kids themselves. As I began to gift monogrammed items such as personalized infant hats, monogrammed onesies and embroidered hostess gifts, I started getting personal requests for a variety of items. My career background is in wholesale apparel (that's for another day), and one morning I woke up and decided it was time to make things official. I'm pretty sure my husband thought I was nuts at first because anyone who knows me knows that when I'm focused on something, watch out because I move fast. By that afternoon I had already applied for my business license and placed my first stock order of infant hats, baby bibs, and onesies. Like most things, Stitch will continue to evolve, but one thing has been consistent - customers have come to love the fresh, modern look of an age old technique.
